It was okay. As I've been reading the Percy Jackson books, I have been enjoying them, but after a while, things all seem to blend into one. However, something that did stand out to me in this book was the involvement of The Hunters and Thalia.
I liked the storyline involving The Hunters and Bianca because it showed another side to Greek mythology other than The Big 3 (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon). It also shows younger readers that not only boys, like Percy, can be the hero, and that it can be anyone who is willing to try. Their story was well developed, although I didn't like how early on in the book Bianca died. I feel like the story would have worked better if she had died later and she had been with Nico when he found out about their father. It just seemed like there were too many characters to keep count of and she was killed off to make the narrative make more sense.
I did not like Thalia. She was a well-written character and added a lot to the story, but she just really annoyed me. She came in for one book, and then left to go to The Hunters, and although she was a good addition. What was the point if she was only there for one book? She was also irritating because of how she treated Percy. I think that she had a sort of superiority complex, where because Zeus, the most 'important' God, was her dad, she thought she was better than him and that she could take over and leave him on the side.
I had no idea what was happening at the end, other than that Percy held a big rock for a bit and then Zoe also died. And that Kronos was Zoe's father. I enjoy the stories before reaching the end when the final battle scene usually happens, because this is when I stop being able to comprehend what is going on. It was so action-packed that I could not tell what everyone was doing, all I gathered is that the good guys won.
In the end, I think that Percy, Annabeth and Grover were, as usual, the best characters in this book, as they have been steadily developing in the series and have not yet let it down. I was looking forward to this book, and although I did enjoy the majority of it, it's easier to point out the negatives in the plot than it is to pick what I found great (there wasn't too much, to be honest).
